Vandalism
If you see graffiti or vandalism in Edgemont please report it to the police and/or the graffiti hotline (403-221-3868), take a picture for the police then paint over the graffiti if it is on your property or notify the owner. This includes strip malls where recent tags have been seen, ask the mall owners to do their part. Graffiti artists like to see their signs up, fast removal ruins the effort.
Community & Neighbourhood Signs
Important information for residents who have neighborhood identification signs on their property. Most of these signs are the responsibility of the homeowner to maintain and repair. The ECA has been getting complaints that some of the signs are missing letters or in poor repair. If signs are not kept up the city can step in and enforce repairs. If a sign is a homeowners responsibility there will be a caveat on their title requiring repair and maintenance. The ECA has spent a large sum of money to repair the signs they are responsible for. Sometimes you get nasty surprises when you go to repair a sign. The Edgevalley sign wall cap was beginning to crack and stucco was falling off. It came as no surprise that our repair crew found the cap was made out of Styrofoam covered with stucco. The cap has been replaced with a metal cap that should prove more durable and protect the sign from the weather. The metal cap is not quite as smooth as the Styrofoam was, as metal is a little harder to work with.
